Position on Life

“The Absolute Perfection of Innocence”

“If, we, the people, will not defend,

nor protect, the very smallest of our species,

from the moment of their conception,

those of us, who have no voice yet,

those of us, who cannot defend themselves,

those of us, who are the most vulnerable,

and those of us, who are

the absolute perfection of innocence,

then, we, the people, cannot defend,

nor protect properly, any human being.

Abortion is the ultimate discrimination of our time.

And it must come to a stop.”

I have believed that human life begins at conception, since the day that I visited COSI (Center of Science and Industry) in Columbus, Ohio, sometime in the mid 1970’s. I was about 30 years of age at the time.

The exhibit I saw showed nine different fetuses in each stage of life from one month to nine months. They were fetuses that had been miscarried or, in some other way, were stillborn. They were encapsulated in a larger display case, and created such a powerful visual impact, that has lived with me, since that moment in my life.

To me, abortion is the single most important issue of justice of our time.

Citing different sources, there are between 800,000 and 1,200,000 abortions in our country every year. If we were losing this many Americans every year due to war, I believe we would find a way to end that war.

At the core of this issue is the determination of exactly when human life begins.

In the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court Justices made an attempt at resolving this issue, noting: "We need not resolve the difficult question of when life begins. When those trained in the respective disciplines of medicine, philosophy, and theology are unable to arrive at any consensus, the judiciary, at this point in the development of man's knowledge, is not in a position to speculate as to the answer."

Man’s knowledge has advanced since that ruling in 1973. And that decision by the Supreme Court, rendered then, and failing to err on the side of caution for those conceived, was incorrect.

Their error did not consider the life of the unborn at conception. Since 1973 it is a scientific fact that human life begins at conception. Our social law has not caught up with the advances in medical science.

The best analogy that I can use, relative to abortion, is the error that the Supreme Court made in the Dred Scott decision in 1858. With 7 yeas, and 2 nays, the Court essentially decided that black slaves were not human beings, that they were chattel and could be used any way the slave masters decided, even the act of killing the slave.

By stating, in essence, that slaves were “things“, then those human beings could not enjoy any Constitutional protections under the law, specifically the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

With the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v Wade, in an exact same vote of 7 to 2, they ruled that human beings are not human until birth. Therefore, the guarantees of the protection of life under our U.S. Constitution does not apply to the unborn.

The analogy is striking. In 1858, blacks were not considered human, but a “thing” to be used. In the 1973 ruling, all human beings from the moment of conception were not considered human, but a “thing“, possibly to be aborted.

Even Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, said that abortion was the wrong way—no matter how early it was performed, it was taking life.

Simply put, I believe that life begins at conception and that all the guarantees of our Constitution must extend to those Americans, once conceived. All Americans must be guaranteed their human right to live. To intentionally disrupt, or to destroy that life should be a crime.

This is an American issue. It is neither a Democrat, nor a Republican issue. It is not left, nor right, liberal, nor conservative. This is about all Americans, rich or poor, white or black, religious or non-religious, male or female. We are all one as human beings.

Any Congressperson has the right to make a motion for legislation.

I will work to contact all incoming new Congressman and Congresswomen who are authentic conservatives and urge them to make the following motion, and vote on the floor of the United States House of Representatives:

"Mister, or Madame Speaker"

The United States of America acknowledges the right to life of the unborn from the moment of their conception and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and, as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right.”

The legislation would protect the life of the mother, if her life was in danger due to her pregnancy.

Once the motion is made, I believe the motion will be seconded, then a vote on the motion must be called.  If passed, then the legislation will proceed to the U.S. Senate.

If passed there, then it will proceed to the President of the United States for either his signature into Law, or his Veto.  Vetoes can be over-ridden by Congress.

This legislation will correct a tragic error that was made in 1973, and this Law will protect millions of Americans, yet to be conceived and born.
